On rare occasions it is necessary to send out a strictly service related announcement. For instance, if our service is temporarily suspended for maintenance, we might send customers/users an email. Though we make every effort to preserve customer/customer/user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on PTAC Central
Aggregate Information (non-personally identifiable)
We share aggregated demographic information with our partners and affiliates. We share information regarding but not limited to: page visits, file requests, daily/weekly/monthly statistics, general inquiries regarding PTAC Central’s products, technical issues (regarding PTAC Central’s website), and hyperlink tracking. This shared information is not linked to any personally identifiable information. PTAC Central may share this information with interested parties including but not limited to retail chains, manufacturers and their respective departments, and marketing organizations. Any marketing organizations used by PTAC Central are given only the information needed to perform services for PTAC Central. PTAC Central currently does not use third party advertising for this site. Therefore, PTAC Central does not share personally identifiable information with third party organizations unless for the express purpose of providing customer service.
Third Party Intermediaries
We provide personally identifiable information to a credit card processing company to bill customers/users for goods and services. This company does not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information.
We partner with manufacturers, retailers, and service companies, to provide specific services. (For example, we contact furnace and air conditioning manufacturers when assisting our customers with warranty claims or technical assistance. We contact our retail partners when assisting customers/users with order placement.)
When customers/users sign up for these particular services, we share names, or other contact information such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and (when applicable) sales/payment information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These third party service providers are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
In the event PTAC Central goes through a business transition, such as a merger, being acquired by another company, or selling a portion of its assets, customers’/users’ personal information will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred.
Customers/users will be notified via email, phone, written correspondence, or prominent notice on our Web site, for 30 days prior to a change of ownership or control of their personal information. if as a result of the business transition, the customers’/users’ personally identifiable information will be used in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection they will be given choice consistent with our notification of changes section.
Our customers/users are given the opportunity to ‘opt-out’ of having their information used for purposes not directly related to our site at the point where we ask for information. For example, our order form has “comments box” so customers/users who buy a product from us, but don’t want any marketing material, can request to keep their email address off of our lists.
Customers/users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter and promotional communications may opt-out of receiving these communications by replying to unsubscribe in the subject line in the email.

Surveys & Contests
From time-to-time our site requests information from customers/users via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and the customer/user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose this information. The requested information typically includes contact information (such as name, email, phone number, and shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip code).
Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site. Customers’/users’ personally identifiable information is not shared with third parties unless we give prior notice and choice. Though we may use an intermediary to conduct these surveys or contests, they may not use customers’/users’ personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.
If a customer/user elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our site, we ask them for the friend’s name and email address. PTAC Central will automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting them to visit the site. PTAC Central stores this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email and tracking the success of our referral program. The friend may contact PTAC Central at firstname.lastname@example.org to request the removal of this information from our database.
PTAC Central provides a Contractor-Locator service to PTAC Central’s customers/user’s. PTAC Central will use personally identifiable information to locate, contact, and discuss with independent contractors near the customer/user. PTAC Central will use personally identifiable information to perform this service.
The information used usually consists of Names, Addresses, Phone Numbers, and other information necessary to refer the contractor to the customer, and to qualify the potential of each referral. PTAC Central reserves the right to retain, store, and follow-up information provided by the customer/user for the purpose of quality assurance.
PTAC Central takes every precaution to protect our customers’/users’ information. When customers/users submit sensitive information via the Web site, their information is protected both online and off-line.
When our registration/order form asks customers/users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry: SSL.
While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to Unlocked, or open, when users are just ‘surfing’. While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect customer/user-information off-line. All of our customers’/users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices.
Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Our employees must use password-protected software when they leave their desk. When they return, they must re-enter their password to re-gain access to user information. Furthermore, ALL employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices.
Every time new policies are added, our employees are notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to ensure our customer’s/users’ information is protected.

In order for PTAC Central to enhance its ability to tailor the site to a customer’s/user’s preference, we combine information about the purchasing habits of customers/users with similar information from our suppliers, to create a personalized user profile.
When a customer/user makes a purchase from PTAC Central, we collect and store personal information about these purchases for warranty, billing, shipping, and customer service purposes. PTAC Central does not share this information with Third Party Advertisers.
PTAC Central may share this information with the manufacturers and their respective departments for warranty registration, customer services, and technical services.
For warranty purposes, some manufacturers and their respective departments require detailed information about the purchase, installation, maintenance, and service of PTAC Central equipment. When this information is required, PTAC Central will notify the customer/user of the applicable policies and procedures and obtain the required information from the customer/user.
Enhancement of Marketing Profile
We use third party marketing data and add it to our existing user database to better target our advertising and provide pertinent offers we think our customers/users would be interested in. We use this information to enhance or overlay the ‘profile’ of individual customers/users. This aggregate marketing data is therefore tied to the customers’/users’ personally identifiable information. See also the “Profile.”
Correcting/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Personal Information
If a user’s personally identifiable information changes (such as zip code, phone, email or postal address), or if a user no longer desires our service, we provide a way to correct, update or delete/deactivate users’ personally identifiable information.
